Metro Mix 380 (with coir) is used as a soilless mix for Phalaenopsis or as an ingredient in a mix with diatomite or others. It is formulated with coir, bark, canadian sphagnum peat moss, perlite, dolomitic limestone and a starter nutrient charge. Growing plants in a soilless mix such as Metro Mix 380 (with coir) is casually referred to as growing plants in mud.

All of our mediums are of the highest quality and come in a variety of textures, sizes, chips, and pieces. Bonsai require free draining water retentive mixes. Sifting various material available here by you to the appropriate size and make-up that is right for your particular application is assumed. Considerations in arriving at the "best" mix for your bonsai should include aeration, drainage, water retention, and proper PH.

Oxygen is critical to root health and the mediums we offer are intended to promote great access to oxygen while also allowing excellent drainage.
